Costa's ham and cheese air fryer toastie

Up next, we’re recreating the Costa-inspired ham and cheese toastie! I don’t know about you, but I can’t get enough of this toastie from Costa – it’s absolutely delicious. So, when I saw this recipe pop up on my For You page, I knew I had to give it a try

This recipe is perfect for a quick, filling lunch! It’s super affordable and can be made easily with ingredients you probably already have in the cupboards.

Buying the ingredients from Tesco, the total came to just £7.43 – what a bargain! Unfortunately, there weren’t any Clubcard deals available for me, but I still managed to keep costs low by choosing the most affordable options.

Method

Start off by placing two bits of bread on a plate and put a layer of the Dolmio lasagna sauce on both slices of bread. This layer will add a deliciously creamy flavor to your toastie, just like the one you get from Costa. It’s the perfect way to recreate that signature taste at home.

Next, layer two slices of ham onto each slice of bread, then sprinkle on a generous amount of cheese. And if you’re a cheese lover like me, feel free to pile on as much as your heart desires! The extra cheese will make the toastie even more gooey.

Place the assembled toastie into the air fryer, then spread another layer of Dolmio lasagna sauce on the top slice of bread. Finish it off with a final sprinkle of cheese to create an extra crispy, cheesy topping as it cooks.

Cook the toastie in the air fryer at 180°C for seven minutes, the longer you leave it, the crispier the outer layer of cheese will become. I personally cooked mine for seven minutes, but when I took it out, I realised it wasn’t crispy enough for my liking. So, feel free to adjust the time based on how crispy you want the cheese to be!

Once it's cooked to your liking, take the toastie out of the air fryer and place it on a plate. Slice it in half, and voila – a delicious, Costa-inspired toastie ready to enjoy.

As always, there’s a video tutorial down below, let me know in the comments if you’ve made this or seen it on TikTok! Was yours as good as the one from Costa?

See you next week!
