Easy Tortilla Pizza

Image
Next, we have the trending tortilla pizza recipe! I have to say that this one might be my favourite so far. It's not only quick and easy to prepare, but also very tasty! Now, let's dive into a low-cost meal that actually checks all the boxes! This meal only cost me £8.50 to prepare, showing that you don't have to spend a lot of money to have something yummy and filling. I just prepared one tortilla pizza, as it was very filling! This dish is ideal for anybody trying to save money when it comes to making dinners or snacks. It will undoubtedly become a go-to for students like me. Method Start by preheating your oven to 200°C. While the oven heats up, you can prep your tortilla base. Spread a generous layer of tomato paste evenly across the tortilla, ensuring it’s well-coated. After that, shower a good amount of mozzarella cheese over the tomato base—the more cheese, the better! Once you’re happy with your cheese layer, it’s time to add your favourite toppi...

Nando's Fakeaway

Image
Next on Tok to Table, we'll take a look at the viral homemade Nando's recipe that has been trending on TikTok! I couldn't wait to test this, and let me tell you, it didn't disappoint. It was a huge hit from start to finish! Whether you're a Nando's fan or simply enjoy recreating restaurant favourites at home, this recipe will satisfy your Nando's flavour fix. While this blog is all about recreating viral recipes on a student budget, I have to admit this Nando’s recipe was a bit pricier than expected when it came to buying the ingredients. If you already have Nando’s sauces or spices on hand, it definitely helps cut down the cost, but unfortunately, I didn’t have them, so I had to buy everything specifically for this dish. To make matters worse, there weren’t any Clubcard promotions available on the items I needed, which was a bit of a letdown. All in all, it cost me £18.14   Method Start by coating your chicken in Nando’s medium peri-peri sauce. Ideally,...

Babybel air fried cheese bites

Image
Next, I'm going to try an air fryer recipe. Air fryers have gained popularity, particularly on TikTok, due to their ability to make cooking faster, healthier, and more convenient. They're ideal for whipping up crispy, flavourful meals with no oil, making them a go-to for busy people searching for quick yet filling dishes. Perfect for students!  Method Firstly, prepare the Babybel Cheese. Start by unwrapping each Babybel and removing the wax coating. Set the unwrapped cheese aside on a plate or tray. Next Crack two eggs into a medium-sized bowl and whisk them thoroughly with a fork until the yolks and whites are well combined. This egg mixture will be used to coat the Babybels, helping the Dorito crumbs stick. After that, take a large bag of Doritos and place them in a sturdy plastic sandwich bag. Using a wooden rolling pin, gently crush the Doritos until they are broken down into fine, crumb-like pieces. You want a good, even texture to coat the Babybels without any large chunk...

Gigi Hadid's viral vodka pasta

Image
To kick things off, we'll dive into the viral TikTok sensation, Gigi Hadid's famous vodka pasta.  This recipe is perfect for beginners like me! I've seen this viral pasta all over my TikTok 'For You' page, and I'm sure you have too. This recipe took me about an hour, but for more experienced cooks, it should take around 30 minutes. Method I began by dicing a white onion and two small cloves of garlic. It's best to have everything prepped beforehand so you can dive right in when you're ready to cook. While you're doing this, go ahead and boil the kettle so you can get the pasta cooking right away. Once your veggies are prepped, heat some oil in a pan on low. Add the chicken and cook until it turns white. Then, toss in the onion and garlic, cooking until they soften. Next, add the tomato paste and let it simmer until it deepens into a rich red color—this step is key to building flavor, so don't rush it. After the tomato paste has cooked, add in the...

About Me

Image
I am a third-year marketing student at the University of Strathclyde, studying International Business. For my current marketing assignment, I'm focussing on something I'm quite interested in, viral TikTok recipes. My blog, 'From Tok to Table', will follow my experience of testing, tasting, and recreating TikTok's hottest trendy dishes. For the second part of my assignment, I will create a detailed report analysing key engagement metrics, such as the rate of engagement, audience demographics, and geographic location, using Google Analytics. These insights will allow me to evaluate the blog’s performance, and based on the findings, I’ll offer recommendations to enhance future engagement and optimize the blog’s success. As a student who regularly says, "I'm skint," this blog will focus on generating viral dishes on a student budget, demonstrating that you don't have to spend a fortune to prepare tasty, Instagram-worthy meals. I'll be shopping ...
